That
was a strange gig. The owner of the place
probably did not read my 12 mails nor did
he listen to the messages I left on his answering
machine. He did not have a clue who we were
and also did not advertise the gig at all.
They were busy is what I understood.I
told him, RHP, jazzrock, one long or two shorter
sets, max. 1 1/2 hour. That's what we are.
We showed up at 19.00 and he told us we had
to play from 9.00 till 00.30. That's a bit
long if you play for next to nothing, we made
just enough to pay for the parking meter outside
the door. Also we don't have enough material,
31/2 hours is RHP played four times with long
solos! I told him we could possibly do two
sets with longer solos. He did not agree and
said he would not pay anything then. I told
him to shove it and we just played one set
since we were all set up anyway and left with
no cash. There's a letter on the way about
Leiden to the KNTV (musicians union) so we
can hopefully prevent this ripping-off routine
to happen for other musicians.
Also kind of ironic, I get mails from people
from the States, Australia and Italy from
people dying to see RHP live. In fact, there's
somebody flying over for the Amsterdam gig
tonight all the way from Italy. More news
about that tommorow. The playing was fun though,
we tried out some new stuff and took long
solos. I'm looking forward to Blijburg tonight
since I know that place and the people and
know it will be a relaxed gig.

Here's some
pics from last night's gig: from left to right:

Got
to bed around 03:00 last night. I had the
privilege to wake up to some beautiful metal
hammering from some construction workers.
Sounded like the outro to one of the Judas
Priest songs. I do like Priest fear not, but
not 07:30 in the morning!! The place last
night was not really the right place for our
kind of music. It felt like people didn't
have a clue of what we were doing and that
they probably just wanted to drink beer. It
was a cool rehearsal for us though, we tried
out some new stuff and we took extended solos.
Will be a better place tonight. We have a
fan who's flying over from Italy just to see
us tonight... respect! Will be back with more
updates soon.
Peace, love & beautiful things.../Lale
