I had a couple of full days of teaching at the music school, so I was pretty tied up. Managed to throw in some practise hours though, just running through the tunes makes it feel a bit more comfortable so I don't have to read all that stuff when performing live. Tuesday we fed the inner mind with some art, the body with some sports and the stomach with some Chinese. One of the best in Amsterdam is right here around the corner, were they also serve some great Cantonese. We did not get much sleep the past days, there's some heavy machinery happening around the corner. Guess they are building some new shopping centre or something. Lale calculated the hammering happens at an average rate of 60 beats per minute. We're thinking of a way to sabotage the stuff so we can finally sleep in the morning. Would be cool to hear a big *BANG* at 6.15, turn around and then just sleep. I treated Lale to some more typical Dutch culture yesterday as you can see on the pic below. I think he enjoyed it.

Jammed some yesterday evening and we came up with a new intro for Lined Out. We will try that out tonight, with a new setlist too. See how that goes. Lale thinks we don't have much rock 'n' roll stories to tell.. well, I can assure you, playing in small clubs, dragging your equipment up two stairs and down again, coming home sweaty and with back pains with just 30 euros you made is all rock 'n' roll! Maybe we just have to throw our Bose speakers over the balcony of my appartment. That's very rock 'n' roll. Hope Bose doesn't read this..

Atttention: For the guitarday- the time has changed, we're on at 16.30 coming saturday in Rotterdam. Check out a video of a bassolo from last sunday at Udo's site: http://www.udopannekeet.nl

Hey guys & gals! So tonight we are playing at The Duke, should be cool. We are on at 21:00 so that's a pretty good time to play. So far I'm really enjoying my stay here in Amsterdam. Richard is always such a great host. Yesterday me and Rich went to the Van Gogh museum and before that we decided to be healthy and go to the Health club and work out. My upper body feels a bit sore but it feels good to have that extra energy, we went there today also. I have this pain in my left foot from jumping into a swedish tree a week ago (yeah, don't ask...I was saving a friend from being attacked by this nasty creature OK!!) so I'm taking it easy with my foot now.
Anyway, it was interesting to learn some history about Van Gogh. His brother financed his art, I wish i had a rich brother who would finance my art ;-) but then again good ol' Vincent became mad in the end and shot himself so I guess that I'm better off as it is. Had some nice chinese food yesterday. This time we are trying to eat properly before gigs. Also ate some typical Dutch food with a lot of mayonese, you know, the stuff they talked about in Tarantino's Pulp Fiction. Not much rock'n'roll stories yet I'm afraid, I do miss my Laphroaig a little bit though. Had some cognac the other day, that's the closest to rockn'roll we get with jazz-rock... anyway we are pretty excited about playing every night now for four days. Me and Richard wrote a new intro to one of the tunes that we'll try tonight. More updates after the gig. Cheers/ Lale

PS: I suggested to Rich that he would use this pedal for some of the tunes, but for some reason he didn't like the idea....
